Eye Rx - Landsowne works with many vision and medical insurance plans. Our eye care team in Leesburg is here to help you understand how your coverage works for your visit. Since benefits can vary based on your plan and the reason you’re coming in, we suggest checking your coverage before your appointment.

Medical insurance is usually for eye health issues or ongoing care. Vision benefits cover regular eye exams and new prescriptions. Your coverage may involve one, the other, or both, depending on your plan and the reason for your visit.

Medical vs. Routine Vision Coverage

The type of coverage used for your visit depends on why you’re being seen and what the doctor finds during your exam. If your visit is focused on eye health concerns, monitoring, or treatment, medical insurance may apply.

If your visit is primarily for a routine eye exam and prescription update, vision benefits may apply instead. If both are involved throughout your care, we will explain how billing is handled and answer any questions so you feel informed before you leave.

Copays, Deductibles & Out-of-Pocket Costs

Most insurance plans include copays, deductibles, or coinsurance amounts that are determined by your plan. These costs are typically due at the time of service. Before your appointment, you’re welcome to contact your insurance provider to confirm your benefits. If you share your plan information with our team in advance, we can often provide a general estimate of what you might owe, though the final amount is determined by how your insurer processes your claim.

Self-Pay & Out-of-Network Visits

If you do not have insurance, or if we are out-of-network with your plan, you can still be seen at Eye Rx - Landsowne. We can review self-pay options for common visits and help you understand pricing before your appointment.

If you’re out-of-network, we may be able to provide an itemized receipt for potential reimbursement through your insurer. Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) may also be used for eligible eye care expenses. Check with your plan administrator for details.

Some specialty services may require additional documentation or pre-authorization depending on your diagnosis and plan guidelines. This may include services such as specialty contact lenses, myopia management, or medical dry eye care. If a service requires prior approval, our team will explain what’s needed and what you can expect. We will always aim to keep the process clear and help you plan.
